Andrew and Aaron Harrison are still capturing the hearts and imaginations of basketball fans as they helped earn the Kentucky Wildcats a spot in the Final Four. Last March, Aaron and Andrew Harrison led the Travis boys basketball team to the Texas 5A State Championship game. The playoff road was challenging, but they rallied and Travis was victorious with a 46-38 win over South Grand prairie.

This March, the twins are on the cusp of striking gold again as they lead the University of Kentucky into North Texas this weekend. This time it’ll be on a grander stage known as college basketball’s the Final Four.

Aaron and Andrew have had a roller coaster freshman campaign. Questions began to surface about their success in the collegiate ranks. However, despite their struggles, they ignited during the March Madness tournament.

Hakeem Butler, family member and Travis basketball player, says he’s not being biased when he tells everyone that the Wildcats are going to win it all.

“I actually thought they were going to go undefeated. Everybody thought that really,” said Butler. “They’ve got so much talent through everybody, not just Andrew and Aaron. They lost some games, but Coach Cal brought them together.”

Aaron Harrison’s game winning shot with less than 10 seconds left against Michigan last Saturday was one for the history books. Butler says he never thought they would go to these heights as a kid growing up with them in Maryland.

“I never really took basketball seriously, but they took it seriously,” said Butler. “I didn’t know they were going to be this dominant, but they are now.”

Butler says the family is very happy and ready for them to bring the championship back home.

The excitement has reached the community as well. Local pizza restaurant IL Primo is inviting everyone to come out and watch the game with them.

Kentucky will take on the number 2 seed Wisconsin Badgers Saturday at 7:50 p.m. on TBS. If Kentucky advances they’ll play the winner of the Florida/UConn game on this coming Monday at 9 p.m.
