The day you meet your idol, you are starstruck and have no words. You completely forget everything that’s going on around you. The moment she walks up to you, you can hardly breathe and after, you think to yourself, “How did I not tell her everything that I had planned?”

On December 4, 2018, after eight years of watching my favorite reality TV show, “Keeping Up With The Kardashians,” I had the opportunity to meet my role model, Kim Kardashian West. I was one out of millions of fans who got the chance to meet her at the grand opening of her pop-up store at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa. So here’s my day, from the minute I woke up to when I met my idol.

6:00 a.m.: I woke up after staying up until 2 a.m. pouring out my heart writing a letter for Kardashian West. I was super excited, but also nervous, not knowing what exactly was going to happen. I then got up and showered, wore the outfit that I had chosen the night before and put on lipstick. It was a red matte lipstick from KKW X KYLIE second collaboration, “Soul Sister.” It had been delivered, on time, the day before.

7:00 a.m.: After getting ready, I made my way with my mom and my little brother with both of my KKW X KYLIE collaborations, a bouquet of flowers I bought for the beautiful Kardashian West, and the letter I wrote for her. On our way to South Coast Plaza, I just kept imagining how I would hand her the flowers I bought for her and tell her how much I love her.

8 a.m.- 9 a.m.: We arrived at SCP and as I got out of the car, my mom told me, “Good luck, tell her how much you love her and how happy you are.” Not ever in a million years did I think my mom would say that to me, all along I thought she was exhausted of my obsession. I made my way to the pop-up store to meet up with my friend, Alyeah Ponce, and her cousin, Alexa Miramontes. We were the first ones in line and as I looked to my left I see, Tracy Nguyen, Kardashian’s publicist. She then walks up and greets us.

I was shaking, my palms were sweating,”

10 a.m.- 11:30 a.m.:  As we waited for the 12:30 p.m. opening, I took out my pen and lipsticks and held them so when the time came I wouldn’t be in a rush. I was shaking, my palms were sweating, the flowers were slipping out of my arms and the lipsticks contained part of my sweat. There were people with name tags rushing around us. Some were getting their cameras ready, others had papers in their hands, and they just kept going in and out of the KKW store.

A man walks towards us and asked if it was fine if he recorded with his camera when the time came and, of course, we said “yes.” We signed a paper and took a picture with it to prove we allowed them to record and take pictures of us.

Suddenly, another man name Peter Larson, who turns out to be the Pop Culture Reporter for the Orange County Register, walks up to us.

He interviewed me and then my friend, Ponce. Some of the questions were, “What is your name? How old are you? How long have you been waiting in line? What do you want Kim to know?” and so on. I’d have to say that was one of the best moments that day, being interviewed regarding “the love of my life.”

12:00 p.m.- 12:30 p.m.: A young lady who worked as security for the mall, stood outside the store. We started talking to her and turned out she was aware of what was going on behind scenes. During that time she told us she had just seen the one and only Kardashian West getting off her car. That made me get extremely nervous because that meant the moment was almost here. The security guard told us, “She is wearing a ponytail and a black suit.” I couldn’t stand still anymore, I really wanted to see her already.

12:30 p.m.- 12:41 p.m.: 12:30 p.m. came and went and Kardashian West still wasn’t here. The security guard told us she was doing some interviews and once she was done she would be here. We then went on Snapchat and watched Kim’s story, we were able to know exactly what was going on inside. While we waited, we were able to see Kim’s reflection through the door, sparking a rush of excitement within us. Time passed, but our excitement only grew. The moment I’ve been waiting for was finally happening.

12:41 p.m.: At this time, I turned to my left and saw Kardashian West looking back to Nguyen with her phone on her hand recording. I was shocked and had no words other than, “Oh my God, you guys.”

As she passed by, she said, “Hey guys.” And then the moment I had been waiting for, she came straight to me, grabbed my flowers as she was recording for her Instagram story and said, “Oh my God, thank you.” During this time she asked, “How are you guys?” and I then hand her my pen and she begins to sign my stuff.

I am crying saying, “I love you so much.”

As she signs, I am crying saying, “I love you so much.” “Thank you for coming to the store, you guys are going to love it inside,” said Kardashian West as she looks up and continues to sign.

She then moves on to sign, Miramontes notebook, and somehow the pen runs out of ink and Kim asks me, “Can I use your pen, do you mind, it’s not working, I’m going to use this one.” That made my whole day. I actually had the opportunity to meet her and have her in front of me, face to face, after all the years I waited to meet her. It was totally worth the wait.

12:45 p.m.: After she finished greeting other fans she walked passed us again and waved. As soon as she walked inside the store, the store employees waited fifteen seconds and then let us walk inside the store. It was beautiful inside, there is a pathway of crystals, then further inside there are couches and mirrors with counters full of Kardashian West makeup. Heading towards the checkout there is a big pallet with a mirror at the top. To leave the store you need to go through a hallway that has lights going bright and low with a mirror towards the end. After we walked out of the store, there was a photographer waiting for me outside and he asked for my information.

I then walked out of the mall and waited for my mom to pick me up. As I am waiting, my friends started texting me including those who I haven’t talked to in a long time. When I open the messages they all sent me, they were all screen recordings from Kardashian’s Instagram story, which Kardashian had posted as I handed her the flowers.

When my mom arrived, I got in the car and immediately she asked me how it had gone. Right away I began to cry as I began to tell my story. Never did I think my experience meeting my idol would turn out the way it did. From being interviewed for the Orange County Register, to talking to my idol, to receiving her autographs, to letting her borrow my pen, to coming out on her Instagram story, this will forever be a day to remember.

Mission accomplished.
