Podcast: History’s Forgotten – Season 2 – Episode 1 – Charles Whittlesey

In the first episode of Season 2 of History’s Forgotten, seniors Christi Norris, Amanda Hare and Caleb Audia introduce themselves to kick off a new year of topics, including the life and achievements of World War I hero Charles Whittlesey. Raised in Massachusetts, Whittlesey was known for his intelligence and aristocratic nature. After graduating high school, Whittlesey attended Williams College before continuing to Harvard Law School. From law school, Whittlesey opened a partnership in New York with one of his classmates. But he ended up stepping back from law to enlist in the army as the United States entered World War I. During the war, Whittlesey became trapped behind the German lines while leading his battalion. Through his patience and ingenuity, Whittlesey led “the lost battalion” out of danger.
