Local soccer team creates opportunities for kids with special needs

The Everyone Plays in Our Community (EPIC) soccer team is a program by the American Youth Soccer Organization designed for children who have mental or physical disabilities and may have a more challenging time participating on mainstream soccer teams. The Redwood City team has been active since 2014 and is now led by Andrew Ramroth, a teacher at Carlmont High School, and Scott Hetherington. Volunteers support EPIC teams by helping out with set up and clean up and acting as buddies to the players. Buddies are typically students from local schools and ensure players have a good experience.
