Students walked out of Daniel Pearl Magnet High School in protest of recently displaced music teacher Wes Hambright and Spanish teacher Glenda Hurtado during sixth period at 3 p.m. on Sept. 23. Students were joined by former students and parents who wore symbolic colors and made signs to show their support. Earlier that day, students were notified that Hambright was reinstated as the music department teacher while Hurtado’s position remained displaced. Hurtado’s displacement continued the students’ walkout for the reinstatement of both teachers.
