At 5:45 a.m. on April 19, a reenactment of the Battles of Lexington and Concord took place at Old North Bridge in Concord. The reenactment was followed by a parade, where several dignitaries, including Gov. Maura Healey, gave speeches. "This is our generation's time, standing here in this place at this moment, we must commit ourselves to defending [freedom]," Healey said. "That's what I will do, and I encourage everyone who knows our history and values our freedom to do the same."

On Wednesday, March 19, teachers from all Wayland Public schools gathered to demonstrate against the recent actions of the Trump administration, which is seeking to shut down the Department of Education. 
"I want [students] to know that we're gonna fight for them and for their resources," English teacher Kelsey Pitcairn said. "This is not just about our job as educators. It's about our mission and values as educators."

Since October, Wayland Public Schools has been experiencing a partial budget freeze due to the rise in certain services and inflation. "I'm hopeful that sort of the impact of the partial freeze hasn't been felt or realized by our students," WHS Principal Allyson Mizoguchi said. "That's the most important thing that everybody's sort of working on."
