Many kids have their own special talent in some way, whether it’s being a skilled mathematician or having the ability to recite every song in “Hamilton.” But it’s not everyday you meet someone who can play eight instruments and is an upcoming artist.
For junior Vivin Goyal Undrajavarpur, that’s his special talent. On top of singing and being a well-rounded musician, he also produces all of his own music.
“I’ve been playing instruments all my life. I started playing the piano when I was six years old,” Undrajavarpu said. “I took drum lessons for four years, started learning guitar, which is now my main instrument. On the sides, I do bongos and flutes, and recorders.”
Undrajavarpu is practiced in a multitude of genres, mainly gospel and pop music.
“Charlie Puth really inspired me, his music is so talented and there’s so much behind it that people don’t recognize,” Undrajavarpu said. “I feel like that’s what really interested me in music.”
While Undrajavarpu took the initiative to begin pursuing his passion this summer, there was one person who has really been helping him along his journey, musician and teacher Anu Alphonse
“I’ve been working with Vivin for six to eight months and out of all the students I’ve had he’s improved vastly in the least amount of time,” Alphonse said. “The thing about Vivin is he’s super humble and I think he’s gonna continue growing because he knows how to take feedback well and is very teachable.”
In the time Alphonse and Undrajavarpu have worked together, Undrajavarpu has been working on vocal support and making tracks in his mini studio at home. Recently, Undrajavarpu has been posting beats on Instagram such as “Solace” and “Blurry Skies.” Songs with lyrics are expected to come out later this year on big platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.
When Undrajavarpu starts working on songs, he believes that he gets the most out of individual brainstorming sessions with himself.
“I usually have these writing sessions with just me and my guitar, and that’s when the lyrics start pouring out. I can really express myself creatively then,” Undrajavarpu said.
In addition to creating music on his own, Undrajavarpu also is part of Life Gate Music’s student program. Life Gate Music is a band that is funneled through Life Gate Church that plays music at local venues, including Valor Christian High School. Undrajavarpu is in their program that allows students to play alongside them. They also host worship nights and lead worship every Sunday.
“There’s certain Sundays where we have students join the band and they have to be at church at around 6:20 a.m. Vivin will always show up on time or early, always ready to help with anything we need,” said music producer and friend of Undrajavarpu’s, Samuel Bharadwaj. “He has a very vibrant personality and loves music. He always seems to have a guitar in his hand.”
Undrajavarpu’s passion serves as an asset to his work as an artist.
“I think that the fact that he can remain in the process and remain focused will help him be more efficient with his music,” Alphonse said. “His consistency and passion are a big part of it. He loves doing it, he wants to keep getting better, so put those two ingredients together it makes a great recipe for a growing artist.”
Although he is relatively new to the music industry, Undrajavarpu still believes creativity is important for everyone to be able to express.
“There’s so much hidden talent that we don’t see in the world,” Undrajavarpu said. “People need to express themselves and get their creative juices flowing.”

![MORE THAN A GAME. With two diving catches in the outfield, the Lions showed up defensively, aiding in their victory over the Pacers. One catch was made by Atwood, and the other by McGraw. Throughout the game, the Lions knew that it wasn’t just about their victory today. “I think [playing for cancer] makes it bigger than just a game,” McGraw said. “Knowing that you have a bigger impact in this world than just who you are as one person.”](https://bestofsno.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/I70A1454-1-1200x800.jpg)
