October means Halloween time, and rapper KSI definitely came up with some spooky stuff of our own. In early October, KSI (and Trippie Redd) took America by storm, releasing their notoriously new song “Thick of It.” This a few months after his unrelated Lunchable knock-off, Lunchly, which is rumored to have been recalled due to mold.
When his social media-based song dropped, he instantly received plenty of backlash for previous allegations of harassment charges. Alongside of his connection to the Prime drink as well as his affiliation with the Sidemen, KSI has certainly made himself a known commodity.
KSI has quickly grown from being a no-name to a big name, moving from internet fame to mainstream success. “Thick of It” adds to his recognition, though many people believe the song is one of the worst ever on the Internet.
“It’s trash, it doesn’t belong on the internet, and he should feel bad for posting it because that’s 2013-2014 music. That should be in the past. Before he released his song I didn’t really care about him, but now he’s [a] no,” said 6th grader Alea W.
The tune is confusing and unrelatable on many levels, and will not make The Howl’s fall playlist. Though “Thick Of It” has a moderately interesting beat, it won’t be what KSI is known for because his pop culture success is much better defined through his drink line and Youtube content.
“Thick of It” has repetitive lyrics that are mushed together to make a jumbled and confusing song. Cliché is the name of the game, even at the start of his song, which begins dreadfully: “This is how the story goes,” and never gets much better.
While we applaud KSI for trying something different once again, he’d probably be best off sticking to Youtube and Minecraft content.
